Do you know that this new Transformer movie’s director is not Michael Bay like the last few transformer movies? “Bumblebee (2018)” movie director is Travis Knight.
I am not going to discuss the story of Bumblebee but I want to share something about Travis Knight. He may not be a well-known movie director to most of us but he comes from a famous entrepreneur family.
If you recognize his last name – Knight, he is actually the son of Nike founder Phil Knight.
The Rise of Travis Knight
Travis does not want to inherit his father multibillion-dollar business. He fell in love with animation when he follows his father on a trip to Japan and ever since then his dream is to becoming an animator.
In the 90s, he worked his way up as a production assistant and then an animator on the Emmy-winning clay stop-motion show “The PJs”. He also produced a few animation movies such as Moongirl, Coraline, ParaNorman, Kubo and more.
Travis could have just inherit his father’s fortune but he chose to follow his own dreams and design a life that he desires. And, finally Bumblebee is giving him a great break with a revenue of USD $300 million (as of the writing of this post).
